One of the things that we love about our home state is its history. Texas is rich in history. And as we tour around the state, we're learning that a big part of Texas History can be found in the Spanish Missions. Our previous visits to the Alamo, Mission Espiritu Santo in Goliad, and Mission Tejas in Weches were very interesting. Following a drought that has hung over much of Texas since 2010, the entire state has seen significant rainfall during May 2015. In fact, many counties are seeing record rainfall for May. Just North of Houston off of Interstate 45, near the town of Huntsville, Texas, sits a wooded 2,083 acre get-away...Huntsville State Park. This park was constructed in part by Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Company 1828, a unit comprised completely of African American military veterans.
