Classic Drive in the South Dakota Black Hills:
Video: Iron Mountain Road From Custer State Park to Mount Rushmore
We are LOVING the Black Hills of South Dakota! There is so much to see and do here. Beautiful landscapes, interesting wildlife and fascinating history are everywhere in the Black Hills. In this video, we take you along as we drive Iron Mountain Road from Custer State Park through the Black Hills National Forest to Mount Rushmore. This classic road, built in the 1930s, winds through the Black Hills featuring multiple switchbacks, super cool pigtail bridges and small one-lane tunnels that were blasted through the granite to maximize views.
This drive is a Must-Do when you're in the Black Hills of South Dakota (make sure you bring a vehicle small enough to make it through the tunnels!).
As a bonus: we just happened to be here at the beginning of Sturgis 2019 so we saw a LOT of great motorcycles on the road. We can definitely see why folks love to ride their bikes on this road!
