Meet Tom and Stacie of RV Texas Y'all

Hey y'all! Welcome! We're Tom and Stacie Langland, Native Texans and Full Time RVers who are all about exploring the Great State of Texas and Beyond one campground at a time. We're on a mission to experience life, not just live it and we share our travels here on our website, YouTube Channel, and podcast. We're glad you're here.

Our journey to full-time RV life began in 2013 with a 5 year plan. During that five years, we quit buying things we didn't really need and began sorting through our stuff to begin downsizing. It wasn't an easy task, but we eventually sold or gave away everything that wouldn't fit in our Class A motorhome or our 1999 Jeep Wrangler. (We are the original owners of our Jeep, by the way!) We moved into our RV full time on November 3, 2018 and began our travel adventures as full time RVers in January 2019. We spend a lot of time in our home state of Texas, but we also road trip beyond the state lines with 23 US states already on our map of places we've RV'd and more coming soon! We want to RV in all 50 US states and the Canadian provinces.

We both began RVing as kids back in the 1970s and our love for the outdoors and state parks was something we had in common from the day we met. Over the years, we have owned a 23' bumper pull travel trailer (Prime Time Tracer), a 28' gas Class A motorhome (Fleetwood Storm), a 35' Class A diesel pusher motorhome (Thor Palazzo), and a 31' Class A diesel pusher motorhome (Tiffin Breeze 31BR) that we chose specifically for beginning our full time RV life. We currently live, work and travel full time in a 2021 Newmar New Aire 3343 -- a 33' Class A diesel pusher motorhome.

We prefer Class A motorhomes for the expansive view out of the large front windshield and side cockpit windows as we are driving down the road, as well as the ease of setting up once we arrive at a campground. We prefer diesel motorhomes for their durability and power. We prefer small diesel Class As to maximize the number of campsites that we can fit into. We enjoy staying at nice RV resorts from time to time, but we love staying inside the National Park campgrounds, state parks, river authority parks, Corps of Engineer Parks, and Forest Service Parks.

For us there is nothing more relaxing than being surrounded by nature, watching wildlife, hiking and exploring trails, cooking outdoors, and wrapping up the day with a nice campfire. We don't want to miss out on those experiences because we have to stay in an RV park and drive into the state or national park for the day. We enjoy spending time outside and then having the comforts of home when we go inside, and having a smaller rig gives us more opportunities to do that within the parks.

One of the things we love most about RVing: our pets come along on our adventures! Our 85 pound Black Mouth Cur (aka hound dog) Star joined our family from the Houston Humane Society in 2015. She took to RVing right away. Star loves everybody and gets excited to meet new friends, but is unbelievably calm inside the RV. Our "tiny tiger", Astro, joined the family in 2020. He was part of a feral litter of kittens who took up residence in Tom's sister's neighbor's yard. He is a GREAT RVing cat: very laid back and open to new adventures. Both Star and Astro have Instagram and Twitter accounts to document their experiences. You can see Star's perspective on RV life by connecting with @RVTXDog on Instagram or Twitter. Not to be outdone by his big sister, Astro shares his pictures as @RVTXCat on Instagram and Twitter.

We believe it's important to learn something new every day (or at least most days), so we seek out the history of the places we visit, stories we discover on the road, and share tips about RVing and the lifestyle. In 2019, we completed training to become certified RV inspectors and registered RV technicians. We didn't complete this training to actually work in the industry, but to learn more about our rig and how it operates. We want to visit all of the state, national and historical parks in Texas, and as many of those as we can beyond the state line. We love getting the feel of a place by visiting community museums and Mom/Pop restaurants. And if there is a quirky tourist attraction in the area, we want to see it! Our bucket list is constantly growing and we love adding to it. So please send your suggestions of must visit places to us so we can add them to our list! You can reach us through our Contact Us page.
