Made in Texas: Goliad Brewing Company in Goliad, Texas
When you're down in South Texas, be sure to make a trip over to Goliad. Historic Goliad, Texas is home to many interesting places worthy of a visit: Goliad State Park and Historic Site, Presidio La Bahia, the Birthplace of General Ignacio Zaragoza, and the town of Goliad itself. Now here's a Hidden Gem to add to your list of must-visits while you're in Goliad: the Goliad Brewing Company.
Opened in 2014, the Goliad Brewing Company is a small, family owned, craft brewery that strives to capture the independent spirit of South Texas. Their property sits just north of the town of Goliad and is only a 5 to 10 minute drive from Goliad State Park and Historic Site. They offer brewery tours every Saturday along with live music in their outdoor beer garden. Although it was raining and cold while we were there, we still had a great time. The staff was incredibly friendly and there were large tents set up outside with heaters. When the weather is nice, they also offer guided hikes on their nature trails.
If you enjoy craft beer, you can purchase a pint glass which will allow you three pints. During our visit, the price for this sampling was $14. (You keep the glass). There was also a food truck available on site. Be sure to take the brewery tour while you are there! Thank you to Brewmaster Stefan Zurakowski for conducting our tour and allowing us to film. He is a wealth of knowledge on the subject of craft beer!
