Reason #2 to RV...

No Bedbugs

I remember my Mom tucking me in as a kid and saying, “Sleep tight.  Don’t let the bed bugs bite!”  I always thought it was a harmless, funny little goodnight wish.  Funny, that is, until the recent stories on the increasing prevalence of bed bugs in hotel and motel rooms.   I appreciate a little souvenir of our trips here and there, but I think I’ll pass on bringing home any extra little critters.

I recently read a story on Health.com (15 Tips for Avoiding Hotel Bedbugs) that suggests stashing your luggage in the hotel bathroom as soon as you arrive.  They say that the bathroom is the least likely hangout for bed bugs, so your luggage will be protected from the little critters until you can inspect your room for their presence.  My Mom says she follows this suggestion, putting her luggage in the bathtub right away.  I don’t know about you, but I’m not sure a semi-public bathroom would be my first choice for storing my possessions.  But maybe that’s just me.

"No Bed Bug" Zone: The easiest way to get rid of bed bugs and keep the pesky little guys from hitching a ride home with you? Don't get around them in the first place! Traveling in our RV, we know exactly who has slept in our beds.  We control what goes in and comes out, we know that it's clean because we're the ones who take care of it, and we sleep tight knowing that the bed bugs will definitely NOT bite. :)

Plus, as an added bonus, we’re not living out of a suitcase.  We know where everything is stored, and we have a full kitchen at every one of our stops (without paying extra for it). No more mini-fridge charges for us!
